During the Wisconsin Book Festival Amy talked before a packed Barrymore Theatre.
She opened the talk with a gesture to have the lights turned on so she can see everyone she’s talking to.
She spoke about her history with democracy in the US. She went on to discuss the Republican National Convention, including the unjustifiable arrest of herself and two of her crew while documenting the arrest of a small group of protesters. She went on to discuss the 2008 election, then told an interesting story about how librarians stepped up in the last year to protect the privacy of our library activity histories. The next discussion went into how the US government was compelling psychiatrists to diagnose phobias in prisoners so that those fears could be exploited in interrogation techniques. Overall the talk was about individuals and small groups having great success in maintaining our freedoms, and encouraged everyone to help insure that our government will listen to us in the future.
Another HDR, handheld as I had no decent tripod at the time, and thus there is excessive ghosting in the details. But I love the composition so much, I had to post it.
3 bracketed exposures with Canon 40D, merged in Photomatix, and adjusted in Photoshop CS3.

The faint blue lines indicate clearly that my tripod was not at my side for this shot.
